Closet Confection: One year Wed!

Since my fella and I were too distracted by all the delightful decadence of the fair, we had to wait for me to take my outfit for another spin so I could snap a few pics. Though, we seemed to get distracted once again, and before we knew it, the sun was kissing us goodnight and we were soon running for cover as the fleet of evil mosquitos descended!

Closet Confection: The birds, the bees, bikes and trees.

This is just a wee little wardrobe entry, with a few photos snapped by my fella while we were goofing around my favorite spot of nature nestled in the city! Things have been so incredibly jam packed (in the most magical way) that blogging fell to the wayside, but, I truly don't want to disappoint my amazing readers, so here's a little something until Wednesday!

Idol: Brigitte Bardot, but of course!
Soundtrack:

L'appareil à sous - Brigitte Bardot by GlamourApocalypse

The Wardrobe:
Blimey Limey Top: Vintage 1960's, thrifted for $3
Gammy Glammy Hot Pants: Forever21
Minty Miss Saucer Sized Earrings: Forever21
In the basket:
Sketch pad, oranges, and my constant companion: a book. This happens to be an epic Elizabeth Taylor biography that I've avoided finishing for too long, it's that good! Review coming soon!

With a special appearance by my favorite set of wheels, little "Rusty", a gift from a family friend who bought her shiny and new back in 1963, and passed her on to me about 10 years ago. I cannot express how much I love my bike, she's my little ticket to freedom and fresh air, and gets me around the city every single day. I love my bike so much I seriously wrote a poem about it. OH yeah.

Closet Confections: Stitches for Britches

These fun little 80's striped shorts were a great score at the GoodWill for only $1.99, but for years they've lingered in my closet because the length was just a bit "eh" and they're quite voluminous, more baggy bermuda than I'm into. So before heading out for a day of running errands, I brought out little Betty...

Meet Betty, my gorgeous, all steel 1950's sewing machine named after the most classic of all vintage cars, "The Belair". Stitching in style, she runs like a dream, and had never been used until I laid my mits on her! She was my birthday present from my fella last year, an amazing bargain at only $40! I actually cried when he gave it to me, I had always dreamed of finding the perfect vintage sewing machine...
So, out came the scissors, and a few inches off later...

Not quite satisfied yet, I'm thinking of using the extra fabric to add a cuff, some bows, or perhaps take them in a bit more so they'll fit like a true hot pant. Have you had any fun revamps on thrift store finds? Please share below, be sure to link photos, I always love seeing how my fellow vintage lovers put their own twist on ill fitting, wonky finds.

Closet Confections: Blossom Dearie

I took my favorite little dress for another spin this weekend on a walk through the arboretum with my hubby. I adore this dress 1. it has poppies blooming along the hemline and 2. it's so bright it's like wearing cotton spun with sunshine.
It was a beautiful June day, with love floating in on the soft breeze. There were two weddings nestled in my favorite nook of nature here in the city, and the mood was truly infectious. How can one help but feel tres romantique while wandering beneath the trees, listening to couples whisper their true heart's yearnings? Le sigh.

Idol: Gidget goes gardening
Mantra: "Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up,
snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather,
only different kinds of good weather."
-John Ruskin

Closet Confections: "Forestial Fancy"

Do you have a secret place where you run to when you need a moment to decompress and just let your soul hum? Is there a hidden nook that makes you feel positively blissful from your coiffure to your toes? This is a peek into my little "zen den" which takes form in a magically hypnotic stretch of wild land tucked away in the middle of the city.

Winding paths meander through a canopy of entangled oak trees and lazy vines. Perfectly inspiring, creatively charging, and truly mystical. I feel like I'm in my own little fairy tale lost in the woods, surrounded by a bustling city that doesn't know what it's missing out on. This is my favorite secret spot that my happy feet trot to several times a week. Our pups love to frolic through the knee tickling wisps of grass.   Mmmmmmm is the sound my heart makes.

Idol: you Snow who...

Mantra: "What was she like? Snow, cream, marble, cherries, alabaster, golden wire? None of these. She was like a fox, or an olive tree; like the waves of the sea when you look down upon them from a great height; like an emerald; like a sun on a green hill which is yet still clouded." - Virginia Woolf, "Orlando" 1928

Soundtrack: "Why do you let me stay here" - She & Him

The Wardrobe:
My little Buttercup Dress: Vintage, flea market find.
Bees Knees Hair Bow: Vintage, estate sale.
Mismatched sock-it-to-me duo: Betsey Johnson
Blue Not So Suede Shoes: Converse
Bangles Galore: Tarina Tarantino & Vintage
