20th century family photo time!

Thanks to my cousin, some beloved family photos resurfaced! Perfect for vintage wedding inspiration, and general retro eye candy, these are some of my most treasured photographs from my father's side of the family!

My Grandma and Grandpa on their wedding day in 1956!

I LOVE these two photos of my father (the 2nd one in, he was an identical twin!) and the whole bunch! SO very Partridge family!

Seeing this snap brings back incredibly fond memories of my Grandpa's booming voice as he'd sing Sinatra, another reason good ol' blue eyes is so dear to my heart!

How about you? Have you come across any fabulous family photos? I'd love to see! I'm heading back east to visit my Grams on my mom's side this month, here's to hoping I discover more treasures then!

Guest spot with Burlesque Bingo!

Have you heard? The latest and greatest way to get your kicks combines the art of the tease and every granny's favorite game....Though, goodluck on keeping your eyes on your card!
Burlesque Bingo is the zany and fabulous master plan in burly-q domination hatched by g-string slingin' icon Audrey Deluxe and Tom Ingram.

Needless to say I was jumping for joy when I was asked to do a guest spot in their "Sweet and sticky summer" show, being only my second performance ever, the pressure was on! With a quick run to the garment district I gave my little costume the quickest makeover possible, about 40 hours and 1,000 crystals later, my lil' lollipop number was ready to hit the stage.

It was most definitely an evening to remember, with a rowdy bachelor party commencing, and a random fella jumping on stage calling out for everyone to go streaking, there was never a dull moment!

I had the MOST amazing group of ladies there to cheer me on, it was truly tummy twirling, so glad Fernando of Psyko Boys caught the moment above when they started screaming for me, I was tickled pink and couldn't stop giggling!

The most incredible thing that I have been given through my very brief adventure into burlesque has to be the solid reminder of the amazing people surrounding me in my life. A mega thank you is necessary to: the two women who have always been my biggest cheerleaders, My wifey Tracy, and my Ama (who drove down from Las Vegas just for one night to catch my show!!!), to Fernando and James from Psyko Boys, I am SO thrilled to have you in my life, you're like family to me! Further danke shanes to Tiffany for rounding up the most fabulous group of ladies and storming the bar with hoots, hollers, and tatas ahoy!

And, of course to Audrey and Tom for giving this chikadee the chance to shimmy and shake in such a fantastically creative show!

More on the road to burlesque coming soon, I promise!
In the mean time, if you happen to be in the Los Angeles area, then read on my lovelies:

This lucky lil' lady is doing a guest spot w/ The Pretty Things Peep Show at their only Los Angeles appearance! Prepare to be tantalized by this world famous troupe of traveling vaudevillians. Sword swallowing, witty banter, mustaches ahoy, & of course burlesque!
Sunday, August 28th @ Dragonfly Hollywood, presented by Miss Kitty's. Stay for the eXXXotica 2011 after party! Doors open at 8pm

One Year Wed!

My Fella and I celebrated our one year married, (ten years together!!!) anniversary this past weekend! For his special treat I took him to the fair for an evening filled with deadly fried fixin's, frolicking with farm animals, and cruising the midway, topping it off with a surprise concert featuring a band that's nearest and dearest to our hearts...

Funnel Cake the size of a flying saucer, I could barely snap a pic before it disappeared! Mmmm.

Petting a little goatie friend.

My favorite funhouse for obvious reasons...

We topped the night off with....The Doors! (Well, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek) Dave Brock filled in for the beloved Morrison. He was spot on, closing my eyes it felt as if I was swept back into time, to the summer of 1967. Adrian Young from NoDoubt even popped up on stage to play the drums for a set!

Needless to say, the night was electric, the crowd in a collective trance, a chilling ocean breeze stirring the palm trees, stars faintly twinkling above, everyone dancing, singing and celebrating love and music... We've seen them several times over the years (and met Robby once, eeek!), it's always an incredible experience that words just can't quite describe.

I couldn't think of a more perfect way to celebrate our ten years together, I gave Carlos his first Doors album when we started dating,  so their melodic tunes have been a constant in this quirky little world we share on a path called love.

P.S. The funny thing is, we had a carnival themed wedding too! Perhaps I should share some photos from that this week?...

Closet Confection: One year Wed!

Since my fella and I were too distracted by all the delightful decadence of the fair, we had to wait for me to take my outfit for another spin so I could snap a few pics. Though, we seemed to get distracted once again, and before we knew it, the sun was kissing us goodnight and we were soon running for cover as the fleet of evil mosquitos descended!
